Wuzhizhou Island Day Trip: Tickets, Ferry, Buggy & Hidden Routes

Wuzhizhou is Sanya's priciest island but also its most worthwhile. This guide shows you how to do it in a day — buggy routes, best dive times, and pitfalls to dodge.

Wuzhizhou Island combo ticket (entry + ferry) runs 169 RMB (low season) to 199 RMB (peak). The electric buggy is sold separately in three tiers: 3 stops for 60 RMB, 6 stops for 120 RMB, full island loop for 140 RMB. Get the 6-stop or full-loop pass — walking only reaches 2 spots near the pier; the other 5 viewpoints require the buggy. A full loop takes about 40 minutes, with hop-on hop-off stops of 10-20 minutes each for photos.

Best arrival time: 8:30am first ferry (boarding starts at 8:00am), with the last return ferry at 4:30pm. In peak season, ferry queues can hit 1-2 hours — pre-buy e-tickets on the official WeChat account or Fliggy, then swipe your ID at the pier. Food options on the island are limited and overpriced (buffets 98-138 RMB/person, simple meals 40-60 RMB), so bring your own snacks and water.

Recommended route: Pier → buggy to Mazu Temple (5 min) → walk to Sunrise Rock (10 min, prime photo spot) → buggy to Lover's Bridge → walk to the bathing beach (swimmable) → buggy to Lover's Island → buggy to Private Custom Pool (film location of Private Custom) → buggy back to pier. If you want to dive, book immediately upon arrival — the 9-11am window has the best visibility.
